By The Staff

TELL CITY - Santa Claus will make a stop in Tell City Sunday, Nov. 25, for the third annual holiday celebration Christmas in the Park and the Tell City Jaycees' annual Christmas Parade.

This year's Christmas in The Park will be combined with the annual parade.

Kris Kringle will visit with local children inside City Hall to pass out treats while carolers entertain with traditional Christmas songs from the City Hall balcony.

The parade will start at 5:30 p.m. with the festivities at City Park immediately following. The festivities will feature the lighting of Tell City's Christmas trees in the fountain at City Hall Park. Carolers will begin singing and children can visit with Santa directly following the lighting ceremony. Information on Cannelton's parade can be found on Page 5A.

The honor of lighting the Tell City Christmas trees will go to the winner of a special holiday-art contest for children. Students in kindergarten through fifth grade are asked to draw a Christmas picture and submit it for the contest. The event is for all residents of Perry County.

In addition to lighting the tree, the top artist will also be awarded a child's art set and have his or her artwork published in The Perry County News' Christmas Greetings section in December.

The artwork must be original and drawn by the child. No coloring book pages will be accepted. All artwork should be on paper no larger than 8 1/2 by 11 inches in size.

To enter, send the child's artwork along with the age, grade and school of the child, parent's names, address and telephone number to Christmas in the Park Art Contest, c/o The Perry County News, 537 Main St., Tell City, IN 47586.

The child's phone number and specific street address will not be published in the newspaper. This information is necessary for notifying the winner only.

The deadline to enter is Friday, Nov. 16.

Other activities being planned for the celebration will be announced at a later date. The Tell City Beautification Committee, The Perry County News and Tell City Jaycees are sponsoring the event.

Partners are needed for this event. Any group, organization, business or individual interested in participating may call Kaye Kleeman at 547-5875.

Letters to Santa

Letters can also be dropped off at The News' office at 537 Main St. or sent via e-mail to editor@perrycountynews.com. Students in area schools will be asked to write letters.
