Freewill Baptist welcome guest
CANNELTON – Pastor Ricky Cravens of James-town, Tenn., will be a guest speaker at the morning and evening worship services Sunday at the Cannelton Freewill Baptist Church.
Pastor Lewis Garrett and the congregation welcome everyone to attend.

Fun day at Chestnut Grove
TELL CITY – Chestnut Grove Church, 4569A Chestnut Grove Road in Tell City, will host a fun day and invites the community to attend.
The day will begin at 3 p.m. with chili, soups, hot dogs and desserts being service. Games will include cornhole, washers, horseshoes, and a cake walk and inflatables for children. Grass sack races will also be set up.

Monte Cassino pilgrimages to be held in October
SAINT MEINRAD – Saint Meinrad Archabbey’s pilgrimages to honor the Blessed Mother at the Monte Cassino Shrine have been scheduled for the Sundays in October.
The pilgrimages will begin with an opening hymn and a short sermon, followed by a rosary procession. The service will end with the Litany of the Blessed Virgin and a hymn. Speakers and topics for the pilgrimages are:
• Sunday, the Rev. Meinrad Brune OSB, “Our Lady of the Table: Mary and the Eucharist”
• Oct. 14, the Rev. Adrian Burke OSB, “Vatican II, Mary and the Church”
• Oct. 21, Brother Francis Wagner OSB, “Mary, Our Partner in Prayer”
• Oct. 28, the Rev. Vincent Tobin OSB, “Mary, the New Eve”
Services begin at 2 p.m. The public is invited. The Monte Cassino Shrine is located one mile east of the Archabbey on Indiana 62 in St. Meinrad.

St. Isidore shooting match set for Oct. 21
BRISTOW – The annual St. Isidore shooting match has been set for Oct. 21 at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Bristow.
The ham and turkey shot will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The closed match – beef and pork – will begin at 2:30 p.m. First choice is a half of beef.
Lunch will be served beginning at 10:30 a.m. and include homemade chili, hamburgers, homemade pie, coffee, soft drinks and bottled water. A country store, cake stand, splatter boards, pull tabs, children’s games and bingo will also be available.
A raffle with more than $5,000 in prizes will be among the day’s events as well.

October activities at Deer Creek
TELL CITY – Deer Creek Baptist Church in Tell City will host several activities during October.
A fall festival with food and games will be held Oct. 4 and Trunks of Treats is open to families Oct. 31.
The church is also sponsoring an Operation Christmas Child event. Members will gather shoeboxes and supplies now through Dedication Day in November.

St. Martin annual social
CHRISNEY – St. Martin Catholic Church in Chrisney will host its annual social Oct. 7.
Pork-chop and grilled-chicken dinners will be served in the parish hall beginning at 11 a.m.
Other attractions will include “Norb’s famous soup,” an outside food stand, grand raffle, quilt raffle, cake wheel, silent and pick-a-prize auctions, a sweets shoppe, games and inflatables for the kids.
Bingo begins at noon with all cash prizes. Entertainment this year includes musician Leo Gronquist and Matt Grisham the Magician in the afternoon.

D of I collecting items for baby shower
TELL CITY – The Daughters of Isabella will have their annual baby shower for St. Elizabeth-Coleman Center in Indianapolis.
The center is in need of newborn clothing, baby care products, diapers for newborns up to size 4-6, bedding and nursing products. Birthmothers can also use cleaning products and any kind of gift cards.
The donations can be dropped off at St. Paul, St. Pius or St. Michael Catholic churches. The group will collect new or slightly used clothing until Oct. 20. The items will then be taken to Indianapolis Oct. 27.

St. Paul’s to offer Catholic classes
TELL CITY – Classes for those seeking to learn more about the Catholic faith are planned and scheduled for 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays in September through April.
Classes are sponsored by St. Paul Catholic Church in Tell City but are open to anyone in the community. The program will begin with inquiry sessions to answer questions in an effort to see if the Catholic faith is right for those interested.
An invitation to attend the classes is also extended to anyone who has drifted away or who has been hurt by the church. To register or to seek more information, call Sister Mary Emma at 547-7994 or 547-7102.

Unity worship held at Sunset
TELL CITY – An informal worship service is being held at Sunset Park each Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. Participants from several churches are sharing in the service, and food is often served.
Various representatives of participating congregations are leading the worship. There is no charge for the service and no offerings are taken. Visitors are welcome to attend.

Talk, Pray, Walk time change
TELL CITY – Deer Creek Baptist Church’s Talk, Pray, Walk will now be held at 4:30 p.m. every Sunday at Sunset Park in Tell City.
Everyone is welcome to attend.
