JEFFERSONVILLE – Charles A. Oberhausen, 87, of Jeffersonville passed away Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012.
Charles was born July 19, 1924, in Tell City to the late Anton N. and Philomena E. “Minnie” (Birchler) Oberhausen. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Susan and his brothers, Francis, Anthony, Louis and Ralph.
Charlie was an Army veteran of World War II. Charlie was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, where he was active in the parish choir for more than 50 years. He truly enjoyed music and was a part of the championship Thoroughbred Chorus and championship quartet, The Downsmen.
He is survived by his loving wife of more than 63 years, Constance (Brown) Oberhausen; his children, David (Barbara Finn), Joan Brooks (Darryl), Maria, James, Teresa, Paul (Jacqueline) and Joseph (Leslie); a sister, Marie Clemens of Tell City; 18 grandchildren; one great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass was held Thursday, Jan. 26, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Clarksville with burial and military honors following at St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery in Jeffersonville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Newcomber Funeral Home in New Albany was in charge of arrangements.
