Changes in Memorial Hospital leadership announced

JASPER – E. Kyle Bennett has been named chief operating officer of Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in an announcement made by Ray Snowden, the hospital’s president and chief executive officer.

Snowden also noted the promotion of Randy Russell, the hospital’s controller, to the position of vice president of finance and chief financial officer. In addition, along with his role as president and CEO, Snowden is now serving in a dual capacity as chairman of the hospital’s board of directors, replacing Bob Disinger who was named interim board chairman after the death of Sr. M. Adrian Davis, LCM in May 2012.
In announcing the leadership changes, Snowden reflected on the succession plan that Davis initiated.
He said, “Several years ago, Sr. Adrian developed a succession plan to ensure that when she retired from serving as Memorial’s board chairperson, there would be a smooth leadership transition. Her intention was that I would succeed her as board chairperson, and Kyle Bennett would begin serving in a greater capacity. Unfortunately, her sudden and unexpected death in May required us to speed up the transition process for the succession plan she developed. Fortunately, Bob Disinger, our Board’s vice chairman, graciously agreed to serve as the interim chairperson from June through the end of the year (2012) with the understanding that this would be only on an interim basis.”
While Snowden has assumed the additional responsibilities of board chairman along with continuing his role as president and CEO, Bennett will serve as chief operating officer and be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the hospital.
Since Bennett’s expanded responsibilities will leave him very little time for his current financial duties, Randy Russell, who is the hospital’s controller, will assume the role of chief financial officer and vice president of finance. All of these changes were effective Jan. 1.
Snowden joined Memorial Hospital as a staff pharmacist in 1981, and his career quickly progressed to the roles of director of pharmacy, vice president of ambulatory services, executive vice president and president and CEO.
He has been a member of the hospital’s administrative staff since 1985 and holds bachelor’s degrees in education and pharmacy, and a master’s degree in health services management.
He and his wife, Kathy, reside in Jasper and have one son, Jay, and two grandsons.
Employed at Memorial Hospital since 1997 as vice president of finance, Bennett has bachelor’s degrees in English and accounting as well as a master’s degree in business administration.
He is a certified public accountant and holds the status of Fellow in the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the American College of Healthcare Executives.
He and his wife, Michelle, live in Jasper, and have three children, Claire, Evan and Ethan.
Russell has a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in business administration and also holds the status of Fellow in the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
He joined the staff of Memorial Hospital in 1999 as director of finance and corporate compliance and was promoted to controller in 2005.
He and his wife, Grace, live in Ferdinand and have four children: Jonathan, Sam, Alex and Katie.
