SANTA CLAUS – The Santa Claus Museum and Village will hold its first annual All Hallows’ Eve celebration from noon to 8 p.m.Saturday and Oct. 20. Admission is free and includes a variety of family-friendly events. Featured activities include a jack-o-lantern scavenger hunt, and pumpkin carving and decorating. Tours of the historic 1880 Santa Claus Church will be offered every hour, and special exhibits will be featured in the Santa Claus Museum throughout the day.
In addition, Indiana ghost stories will be told around the bonfire and a variety of food samples cooked from recipes collected in the new Santa Claus Museum Cookbook will be available. Hayrides will also be offered in partnership with Santa’s Stables.
“This is the first time we will host a special event in our new location,” said museum founder Pat Koch. “Our event is a wonderful way for families to celebrate Halloween, and learn something about our local history as well.” At 7 p.m. in the church, storyteller Susan Fowler will hold a lantern-lit reading of Washington Irving’s classic ghost story, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.” The tolling of the church bells will mark the arrival of the Headless Horseman.
Admission to All Hallows’ Eve is free. For more information about this event, visit www.santaclausmuseum.org/all-hallows-eve/ or call (812) 544-2434.
