TELL CITY—Jake Swihart was Tell City’s only winner as Castle beat the Marksmen 4-1 to win the boys tennis sectional Saturday for the 19th year in a row.
Swihart, a freshman, beat Grant Gardner 6-3, 6-0 in No. 2 singles.
The Knights won the other four matches in straight sets.
Neil Jairth defeated Anjan Kashyab 6-0, 6-2 in No. 1 singles and Austin Machino beat Zach Fisher 6-2, 6-1 in No. 3.
Caurab Chaudhry and Jake Lobel shut out Jeff Yeung and Austin Paulin 6-0, 6-0 in No. 1 doubles.
Isaac Alling and Ryan Sturgeon beat Tyler Groves and Kevin Yeung 6-2, 6-1 in No. 2.
Because Tell City lost in No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles, no Marksman will advance to the individual state tourneys.
Tell City finished the season 9-3 in dual meets. The Marksmen started two freshmen, two sophomores and two juniors, with Kashyab the only senior in their lineup.
