CANNELTON - State police are heading up an investigation into Thursday morning's stabbing of a Cannelton man.

Police Chief Kenny Kellems said Cory J. Kleeman, 19, of 535 First St., was taken to Perry County Memorial Hospital and then transferred to University Hospital in Louisville, Ky.

Kellems said Kleeman suffered a knife wound to his left shoulder. He called the wound serious and said Kleeman lost a significant amount of blood.

The stabbing took place in the man's home but Kleeman's friends transported him to a home on First Street, police said.

A woman living with Kleeman was interviewed by police but was released. However, the investigation is continuing, Kellems said. The knife was recovered.

Kleeman was listed in fair condition Friday.
