Consultant: Without increase, city utility may face bankruptcy in 18 monthsCANNELTON - Cannelton residents will see a 35.12-percent increase in their electric rates before the end of the year if a consultant's proposal is adopted by city leaders after a public hearing scheduled for 6 p.m. Aug. 5.
Utilities Director Phillip Ball said the increase would add $21.63 to the average residential customer's monthly bill, and urged individuals to call his office at 547-7919 to find out what the hike will mean based on their usage.
