CANNELTON - Whitesville used a strong trapping defense to beat Cannelton 60-26 in girls basketball Monday.
The Raiders jumped to a 20-12 lead in the first quarter when "we gave up 14 points due to steals off the trap," said Cannelton Coach Jeff Miller.
"They trapped a lot across midcourt and it hurt us bad until we adjusted. The girls were trying to run through (the traps) instead of passing the ball up."
The Bulldogs handled the trap better after that but had trouble scoring, tallying only three points in the second quarter to fall behind 31-14.
