CANNELTON - South Central outrebounded Cannelton 44-27 and beat the Bulldogs 62-38 in boys basketball Saturday.

The Bulldogs appeared fatigued after battling hard against Perry Central the night before.

Cannelton junior guard Tyler Aud hit a three pointer to put the first points on the board for the Bulldogs a minute into the game.

But they were outscored 12-5 in the opening quarter.

Aud went on to be the leading scorer with 11 points for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs would not hit another three-pointer until the third quarter. They hit only 2 of 21 three-point attempts for the game.

The Bulldogs hit 14 of 66 from the field overall for 21.2 percent.

The Rebels hit a modest 34.5 percent from the field (20 of 58). But they made five three-pointers--all by Keys - and capitalized on their rebounding advantage.

Randall Hertle, a 6 foot-6 junior, pulled down 17 rebounds for the Rebels. Chase Gerber, Cannelton's tallest player at 6-foot-3, led Cannelton with six rebounds and Justin Dooley added five.

The best quarter for Cannelton was the fourth. The Bulldogs scored 15 points that period with Dillon Powers contributing six.

Cannelton Coach Brian Garrett, said his players "played flat, with tired legs, after expending so much energy in our game last night.

"We can't get into a hole and dig out. We've got to get ahead early."

Cannelton fell to 0-3 while South Central improved to 2-1.

The junior varsity Bulldogs also lost to the Rebels 46-30.

T.J. James led Cannelton with nine points and Cody Lawalin contributed eight.
