NEW HARMONY - Sammie James served 15 points but Cannelton lost to New Harmony 25-16, 17-25, 23-25, 25-23, 15-13 in volleyball Saturday.

James served three aces. Hannah Baur added nine points, including two aces, for the Bulldogs.

Jaci Garrett and Whitney Nugent each made four kills and Baur added three.

Cannelton Coach Heather Daum said the Bulldogs played "probably our worst match of the season. "We didn't hit the ball - we had absolutely no offense. And we missed four serves in the first game alone."

Cannelton played shorthanded. Brooke and Sarah Powers were gone to a relative's wedding, Payton Reed was still injured, and Gracie Kellems also was not there.

That left the Bulldogs with just nine players, so no junior varsity match was played.

Cannelton fell to 0-9 while New Harmony earned its first victory of the season.

The Bulldogs will host Rock Creek Christian Academy Friday at 5 p.m.
