Enjoy the voices of carolers cutting through the crisp evening air as you savor the anticipation of what you’ll find at each of the candlelit cabins.
Maybe there will be home-baked treats or steaming mugs of hot chocolate to warm your hands or a cozy fire and music to rekindle your heart’s spirit.
Whatever you find, it’s sure to add a spark of magic to your holiday season.
Shubael Little Pioneer Village is a collection of early cabins that were moved from various Perry County locations to land settled by pioneer Shubael Little and his family. The furnished cabins, located in a beautiful rolling setting and now decorated for the season, give visitors a feel for what it must have been like for Little and other early Perry County inhabitants as they prepared for the holiday season.
The village is just north of Rocky Point and the Ohio River in Perry County at 7590 East Indiana 66, Cannelton. The Facebook page for “Shubael Little Pioneer Village,” offers more details, or you can contact Bill or Glenda Gibson at (812) 836-4344, (812) 719-2239 or gibson@psci.net.
There is no admission charge, but visitors are asked to take canned goods to donate. In the spirit of the season, collected canned goods will be given to local food banks for use in serving the less fortunate.
Attendees should dress according to the weather and remember no electric or battery-operated lighting is allowed. Candles and lanterns are permissible.
