MONTGOMERY - Barr-Reeve escaped a bases-loaded situation in the seventh inning to beat Cannelton 5-2 in baseball Monday.

Cannelton loaded the bases with one out in the seventh, bringing the potential winning run to the plate.

But two fly balls followed (the first too shallow for the runner from third to tag up and score), ending the game.

Lane pitched a complete game, giving up eight hits and two walks and striking out three.

Cannelton lost a doubleheader at Hancock County Tuesday 18-1 and 16-5.

"They just hit the ball real well," said Cannelton Coach Mike Garrett of the Hornets, who improved to 8-8.

Former Cannelton student Michael Mosby, who starred for Rockport's American Legion World Series team last summer, hit the triple.

He and reliever T.J. James combined to strike out three and walk two.

The Hornets outhit Cannelton only 8-5 in the second game but took advantage of five Cannelton errors.
