LYNNVILLE - Cannelton held Tecumseh pretty well in check after the first inning but lost 14-2 in the first round of the Class A baseball sectional Wednesday.
The game had started in the rain last Monday morning and was suspended in the top of the first inning with Tecumseh leading 6-0 and the bases still loaded.
The game was resumed from that point Wednesday afternoon.
The Braves quickly added three more runs, as Bob Oeth hit a single to left. It got past the left fielder, allowing three runs to score and Oeth to make it all the way to third base.
Oeth later scored to increase the Braves' lead to 10-0 before Cannelton even got to bat.
"After that first inning we settled down a little bit and only gave up four runs," said Cannelton Coach Mike Garrett.
"But it's kind of hard to get pumped up to play baseball when you're already down 6-0 when you get off the bus."
Tecumseh finished with 10 hits after getting seven Monday before the game was suspended.
The Braves also took advantage of six Cannelton errors.
Freshman outfielder Spen-cer Herzog got Cannelton's only hit.
He led off the fifth inning with a single to short left-center field.
A walk to T.J. James, two errors by the third baseman, and a fielder's choice grounder later in the inning allowed the Bulldogs to score their two runs.
Stephen Lane pitched the first four innings for Cannelton to take the loss. He walked two and struck out two.
Tyler Aud pitched the fifth inning, walking none and striking out one.
Cannelton finished the season 1-20.
Tecumseh, ranked 10th in the state, went on to beat Wood Memorial 4-2 for the sectional title Thursday.
