INDIANAPOLIS—Local rivals Perry Central and Tell City will meet again for the third time this season in the first round of the Southridge boys basketball sectional next week.
Sectional pairings were drawn by the IHSAA Sunday.
In the seven-team Class 2A sectional to be played at Southridge’s Huntingburg Memorial Gymnasium, Tell City will play Perry Central in the first game Tuesday at 6 p.m. (all times listed are Perry County times).
The winner will take on Southridge in the first semifinal game Friday, March 1, at 5:30 p.m.
First-round games in the other bracket will be played Wednesday, with Forest Park facing Mater Dei at 5:30 p.m. and South Spencer taking on North Posey at approximately 7:15 p.m.
Those winners will meet in the second semifinal game 7:15 p.m. Friday, March 1.
The championship game will be 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 2.
Perry Central, 17-2, has the best record in the sectional and beat Tell City in their previous meetings Nov. 27 and in the PSC Holiday Classic Dec. 28.
Cannelton drew one of the first-round byes in the five-team Class A sectional to be played at Wood Memorial.
The Bulldogs will play Tecumseh 5:30 p.m. Friday, March 1.
Defending champion Evansville Day will open play in the other bracket against Northeast Dubois 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The winner of that game will play Wood Memorial in the second semifinal game 7:15 p.m. Friday, March 1.
The championship game will be 7 p.m. Saturday, March 2.
Tickets for all four sessions of the Southridge sectional are on sale at Perry Central’s main office 8 a.m.-3 p.m. today, Friday and Monday and at Tell City’s athletic office until noon Monday for $10 apiece.
