BOONVILLE—Jordan Buxton pitched a no-hitter as Boonville beat Tell City 10-0 in girls softball Thursday.
Buxton struck out 11 and walked one in the six-inning game. The Marksmen never hit a ball out of the infield.
“She had a nice rise ball and good speed,” said Tell City Coach John Hayes.
The only runner to reach base against her was Sydney Goffinet, who walked to lead off the sixth inning.
Goffinet advanced to second on Bailey Sandage’s ground out but was stranded there.
Sandage pitched a complete game for Tell City. She gave up 12 hits, but 10 were singles, including some bloops.
She walked six and struck out one.
“Bailey pitched really well,” said Hayes.
He said another bright spot for the Marksmen was Monica Bartley’s play at third base, as she handled six chances—including several hard-hit balls—without an error.
Tell City, 2-15, will host South Spencer Tuesday at 5 p.m.
