TELL CITY - Members of the Tell City-Troy Township School Board approved several resignations, a hiring, the replacement of computer equipment and advertising for a temporary loan at a regular meeting April 8.

Resignations included Rachel East and Kristi Haller as co-sponsors for student council at the high school; James McGee as assistant high-school football coach, junior-high office assistant Debbie Melberg and Logan Wint, custodian at William Tell Elementary School.

The board approved the employment of Jason Bebee as head maintenance custodian at the high school.

Their approval of a $25,608 purchase will permit the replacement of outdated "backbone" computer equipment at the elementary school, according to Schools Superintendent Ron Etienne. He provided information about the school-board meeting to The News, which was unable to attend due to a candidates forum it helped conduct at the same time.

Etienne said the short-term loan was necessary because he'd received word funding the school system was supposed to receive in June will be delayed until August, at the earliest. Assessed values for properties in the county hadn't yet been calculated, he said, but bills still had to be paid.
