Block bash in French Lick to begin Sept. 20

FRENCH LICK – The 2013 Block Bash, a chainsaw carving competition, will be held Sept. 20 through Sept. 22 in the French Lick Town Green.
The event will feature 10 of the top carvers in the country, according to organizers. The carvers will compete for three days on eight-hour masterpiece sculptures. Activities  will be from noon to 9 p.m. Sept. 20 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 21 and 22. All carvings will be auctioned Sept. 21 and 22 at 5 p.m.
The bash will include an artist marketplace with artists of all venues demonstrating and selling all three days. The entertainment tent will feature a craft beer garden, a wine garden hosted by French Lick Winery from noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 21 and 22, and live entertainment.
Bikes will be on display on Main Street Sept. 21 from noon to 4 p.m. and a classic-car show will be from noon to 4 p.m. Sept. 22. The state Department of Natural Resources will present a raptor show Sept. 20. A food court will be set up all three days.
Carvers will feature Echo carving team members Mark Colp and Jason Emmons and carvers from Velocity Channel’s reality show “Saw Dogs.”
