Bezy hits free throws to hold off Cannelton

WASHINGTON - Matt Bezy hit seven clutch free throws in the final 53 seconds as Washington Catholic beat Cannelton 77-70 in boys basketball Saturday.

The Bulldogs trailed only 68-66 with 0:53 left when they fouled Bezy to put the 5-foot-9 senior guard on the line.

He hit both free throws and then stole Cannelton's inbound pass.

He was fouled again and hit 1 of 2 free throws to put the Cardinals up 71-66.

After a Cannelton miss, Bezy was fouled again and hit 1 of 2 free throws to increase the Cardinals' lead to 72-66.
