TELL CITY – A day of activities Saturday will give emotional and financial support to the family of a young firefighter battling cancer for the second time.
A benefit for Zach Taylor will take place at the Perry County 4-H Fairgrounds. The day will include food, games and a large auction. Chicken dinners will be available beginning at noon. The auction will start at 2 p.m. and will feature donated items, including gift certificates, furniture and sports memorabilia.
A euchre tourney will begin at 6 p.m. and include a chili supper and baked goods.
Taylor is a graduate of Tell City High School and battled Hodgins lymphoma a couple of years ago. That cancer has since returned and he has also been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia.
Taylor is receiving treatment at St. Jude’s Hospital. He is expected to be there for several months.
Taylor is the son of Anderson Township Fire Chief John Taylor and his wife, Laura. The younger Taylor’s grandfather, Joe, was also a firefighter.
Items are still being accepted for Saturday’s auction. To make a donation, contact Beth Hauser at 719-1362, Steve Parker at 719-1175, any Anderson Township firefighter, Perry County Fraternal Order of Police member, Perry County Rescue member or Tell City firefighter.
