PERRY COUNTY - The National Weather Service, in partnership with Indiana State Police, the State Emergency Management Agency, Hoosier school districts and media, will conduct statewide tests of communication systems between 9:30 and 10 a.m. and 6 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
March 2-8 has been designated Severe Weather Preparedness Week in Indiana.
Both drills will be announced via radio as tests before the sounding of emergency tones that alert local police and fire departments, rescue squads and first responders. Weather sirens in the county will be activated for the morning drill only.
Friday March 7 is the make-up drill day if the threat of severe weather postpones Wednesday's drill.
Families and business are encouraged to participate by reviewing their plans for responding to dangerous weather conditions.
