TELL CITY—Reese Miller scored two touchdowns in the second half as Tell City beat Gibson Southern 24-12 in eighth grade football Thursday.

Miller scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 1-yard run in the third quarter. He later scored on a 14-yard pass from Brennan Malone.

Tell City scored its first-half touchdowns on a 2-yard run by Trevor Zuelly and a 59-yard pass from Chris Schaefer to Drew Mowery.

On defense Malone intercepted a pass and Jimmy Phillips recovered a fumble.

Elliot Brown scored two long touchdowns as Tell City won the seventh grade game 14-0.

Brown scored on a 68-yard pass from Trent Rainey and a 52-yard pass from Xavier Barnes.

C.J. Rowe ran for a two-point conversion.

The shutout on defense “was just a group effort,” said Tell City Coach Kelly Malone. “We have so many kids tackling the football.

“They (Gibson Southern) had several possessions where they turned it over on downs. They had less than yard to go (on fourth down) each time and we stopped them every time.”

Tell City, 3-1 in the eighth grade and 4-0 in the seventh grade, will host South Spencer Thursday at 6 p.m.
