TELL CITY – Anyone interested in Indiana’s forests is invited to the Lincoln Hills Resource, Conservation and Development Area Forestry Committee’s 43rd annual tour and banquet. The committee is inviting the public to join them Feb. 12.
The event will focus on restoration of the Hoosier National Forest and includes a tour of two sites in the Oriole area. The field trip will showcase different ways to encourage oak regeneration. There is no cost for the tour which begins at 2 p.m. Those attending can meet at the Oriole trailhead off of Indiana 66, four miles south of Sulfur. The tour should last until 4:30 p.m. and visitors are asked to take a hard hat if they have one.
A banquet will be held at Bill and Dave’s Smokin’ Pit at 6 p.m. with a social hour from 5 to 6.
Chris Zimmer, district ranger for the Hoosier National Forest, will speak on restoration of the Hoosier National Forest.
There will also be awards given to local 4-H youth for their work in the field of forestry.
