Annual astronomy star party at Patoka Lake Saturday

BIRDSEYE – Enjoy a special presentation by members of the Louisville AND Evansville Astronomical Societies and the Stonebelt Stargazers of Bedford as they share their knowledge of the sky above from 6 to 10 p.m. or later Saturday at the Patoka Lake Beach.
There will be kid’s activities from 6 to 8 p.m., along with solar observing. Two special astronomy programs will be held at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. under the tent on the beach.
From 8 p.m. on there will be telescopes set up for observations of Saturn and Mars as darkness falls.
During the evening there will be programs held under the tent by Ken Alderson, president of the Louisville Astronomical Society. He will show participants what they can expect to see when they go out to the telescopes.
An entrance fee of $5 per vehicle for Indiana residents is required for the Newton Stewart State Recreation Area, Patoka Reservoir, located north of Wickliffe Indiana, Highway 164.
