Executive director to become pastor, counselor at Jasper church

By Kevin Koelling, Managing Editor

TELL CITY - Paul Alvey, executive director for the Perry County Recycling Management District, announced Tuesday he will resign from the position July 15.

The announcement came after the district's board of directors conducted an executive session before a regular meeting.

Alvey has accepted a position as an associate pastor and staff counselor with Shiloh United Methodist Church in Jasper. At the board's request, Alvey will continue to serve as executive director on a reduced-time basis, with his salary adjusted to reflect that status, according to a news release he provided. He will oversee ongoing and planned 2009 projects through completion and help in the selection and training of a replacement.

He said after the meeting he's grateful for having had the opportunity to serve as executive director, and is excited about beginning work in his new position.

Further information about the vacancy he'll leave will be provided as soon as it's available.
