Each year, the Allen Krutz Memorial award is presented to a sixth-grader at Perry Central.
The criteria for the award states a good citizen “shall be helpful to other people; shall be polite and cooperative toward others; shall be respectful toward other people and their property; shall give their best effort to whatever they do and shall have respect for our country and our laws.” Allen Krutz was a student at Perry Central when he died in 1981 after suffering from hydrocephalus. The winner of the award is voted on by the staff at the school. This year's winner is Lain Knieriem, pictured second from the right. Posing with him are Principal Ray James, Lain's father Ryan Knieriem, Allen Krutz's father James Krutz and Lain's mother, Heather Knieriem.
