Alert system will speed search for missing people

-A A +A

Network able to place up to 1,000 calls per minute

By Vince Luecke

TELL CITY - A nonprofit organization that has helped locate hundreds of missing children and adults will soon be partnered with the Tell City Police Department and its countywide dispatching system.

Tell City Police Chief Greg Hendershot received the board of public works and safety's permission last week to affiliate with the Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based A Child is Missing. Reports of missing people will be relayed to ACIM, which in turn will send out automated phone calls to homes and businesses, making it more likely the missing person will be found quickly.
