Roger Ortman, Phillip Armstrong and Leah Dewalt use their acting skills to create real-life scenarios for police officers Nov. 4 as part of required annual training. The Act Out Ensemble uses theater to explore social issues, some of which apply to law enforcement. Topics last week included sexual harassment, conflicts of interest and child protection. Indiana requires officers to take part in training each year and the Southwest Indiana Law Enforcement Training Academy sponsored the group’s appearance at the Schergens Center. Act Out is an educational theater program of the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis School of Liberal Arts.
