TELL CITY – Thirteen teams competed in Perry County Community Foundation's fourth annual trivia night Saturday at the Schergens Center. The annual fundraiser allows trivia teams to compete for prizes, with the first-place team earning the privilege of selecting their favorite charity to receive a $500 grant.
Trivia-night activities included dinner, drinks, snacks, desserts and trivia. Reservations were taken in advance for spectators and teams alike. Each team could have up to eight players who dressed in costume and creatively decorated their team tables depending on how badly they wanted the infamous "Best Team Spirit" award.
The first-place team, The Newshounds, selected Widow's Barrel to receive the $500 grant. Second place was The Big Kids and third was the Hysterical Society. Winning the encouragement award was the Run for Your Mother team. The spirit award went to the Country Cousins. Other teams participating included: The A- Team, Christensen and Friends, Fitopoly, Forest Service, The Gardeners, Last Man Standing, The Trivial Pursuers, and Tuff Brakes.
Every team player received a trivia night glass and a stress ball. Prizes were sponsored from various local businesses and included first, second and third place medals provided by R & A Sports; one month memberships to EverBody's Fun & Fitness Center; free pizzas at Papa John's Pizza; free games at the Tell City Bowling Center; eight free Subway sandwiches and cookies, and Trivial Pursuit card games were given as the encouragement award.
A silent auction was also possible due to various businesses donating items. Coca-Cola provided free soft drinks and Dos Amigos provided chips and salsa.
Jim Adams served as the emcee, Bill & Dave's Smokin' Pit catered and there was a cash bar. The foundation’s Board of Trustees provided table service, and board members also baked home made desserts.
Organizers would like to thank this year's category sponsors: ATTC Manufacturing, C&S Inc., Domtar Paper Co., Fifth Third Bank, German American Bank, Mulzer Crushed Stone, Perry County Memorial Hospital, Waupaca Foundry and Webb Wheel Products.
The proceeds of the trivia night strengthen the Foundation's ability to meet needs in the community and assist in efforts to keep philanthropy an integral part of the community. The 2015 Trivia Night is being planned and the foundation welcomes those who would like to participate as sponsors, teams or spectators to call (812) 547-3176 or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
