TELL CITY – Are you ready to help Stuff the Bus to help families in need? United Way of Perry County is once again sponsoring, for the seventh year, its annual Stuff the Bus school-supply drive for this area’s students Friday and Saturday. United Way, Wal-Mart and area volunteers will join together to solicit donations of much-needed school supplies for all Perry County school corporations, Head Start and North Spencer School Corp.

Last year’s two-day event gathered more than 4,700 items valued at approximately $3,750.

Additional cash donations of a little over $1,800 were also received, bringing the value of all donations to more than $5,550 for area friends and neighbors in need.

“Won’t you help us fill the backpacks of the hundreds of children in our area who need supplies? We will be stuffing the bus Friday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Tell City Wal-Mart,” United Way Executive Director Rebecca Fenn said.

Donations will be collected by volunteers both days. All supplies will be distributed to children in need by the local schools.

Local businesses are encouraged to have their own Stuff the Bus collections. Volunteers will be happy to pick up donations before Friday. For more information about donating to Stuff the Bus, contact Fenn at 547-2577.
