Organizers: Take your family for a day of outdoor fun

TELL CITY – The 11th annual Adventures with Nature Field Day will be held at the Tipsaw Lake Recreation Area Saturday, June 28.  Activities will get under way at 9 a.m. and will conclude at approximately 1 p.m.

The United States Department of Agriculture Forest Service, Indiana Department of Natural Resources Division of Forestry and Perry and Spencer County soil and water conservation districts continue to work together to present the event.

This year’s event theme is “Soaring in Indiana.” Children will have the opportunity to learn about bees, butterflies, bats and birds while doing activities and crafts. Children can make suet birdfeeders, make kites out of garbage bags, dissect owl pellets to see what owls eat, do soap carvings, and many other activities. The day will conclude with a raptor program presented by a naturalist from Hardy Lake at noon.

The event also includes door prizes donated by area businesses. Participants must be present to win.

Tipsaw Lake Recreation Area is located in Perry County along Indiana 37, seven miles south of Interstate 64.

The Adventures with Nature program is free, however attendees will have to pay a $3 per car day-use fee to enter the recreation area.

For safety reasons, pets are not allowed at this field day. Lunch items will be available for sale by the Perry Central Music Boosters. Take your family, friends, swimsuits and lawn chairs to enjoy a beautiful summer’s day, organizers urge, and have “Adventures With Nature” at the Tipsaw Lake Recreation Area.
